Thinking Error

The thoughts that lead someone to be abusive or neglectful to themselves and others. Thinking Errors (aka distorted thought patterns or cognitive distortions) are foundational to cognitive based treatments: they change the way people think about their thoughts. Each Thinking Error has an associated corrective and learning how to use correctives is the beginning of being less abusive and neglectful. Treatment providers have created several versions of thinking errors based on the needs of the client.
